No, it's not mine. It's my mom's!! She decided last week that she wanted a new car. She asked me on Tuesday when she was here to look up the blue book value of her van. Well, by Wednesday afternoon, she was at Buckeye Ford looking at cars. Once she gets something in her head, well, that's it. A trait that has been inherited by her daughters, right Liz? She decided on a Ford Escape. The dealer had a white one but she wanted red. Whatever Rosemary wants, Rosemary gets so they called around and found her a red one. She is so excited by this car. At age 82, this is the very first brand new car she has bought on her own. She loves the satellite radio that she gets for free for 6 months. She's been listening to the 40s station. :-) I'm just so happy for her. Mike said he's not seen her so excited over something in a long time if ever. She deserves it and I can only hope I have her same spunk and spirit when I'm her age! I just love her so much and love everything about her. I learn more and more from her each year and can only hope I am as good a mom to Evan as she is to me.Sunday, March 21, 2010

The three doctors
There was a neonatal services retreat today at the hospital. As I sat and listened to one of the speakers, I looked around and realized that all three doctors that worked on Evan the day he was born were there. The neonatologist that was in the delivery room at OSU (I found out later that he prayed for Evan during delivery and transport to Children's), the neonatologist in the NICU (he is now at St. Ann's) and the surgeon that performed surgery on him not only the day he was born but 13 days later when his esophagus was repaired. Little did they know what an impact they had on our lives, what a difference they made and how we will never forget them.

Things didn't quite turn out as planned
So, instead of spending last weekend in the Valley of the Sun, I spent it here in Columbus and much of my day on Friday was spent at the airport. It was a day of disappointment BUT all is not lost. The trip was not canceled, just postponed, and we're going to try it again on April 16th! Turns out the Valley of the Sun was NOT very sunny last weekend so it's just as well that I wasn't there. It will be a fun week AFTER my birthday weekend. :-) The countdown clock starts again.....
